In 1976, the Chicago White Sox were one of the worst teams ever fielded. However a big-time turn around happened when Bill Veeck regained ownership a year later. The '77 squad hit a since-broken team record of 192 home runs and were dubbed the 'South Side Hitmen' by the fans and media. The name is still regonized today in separation of their hatred for the crosstown rival Cubs.
