The 1981 season was the Jets' first winning season since the AFL-NFL merger. The Jets would finish 10-5-1 and make the playoffs for the first time since 1969. The Jets were stacked on the defensive line with All-Pro's Mark Gastineau and Joe Klecko anchoring their front four. They combined for 40 sacks earning the name, "The New York Sack Exchange"
